It is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To honor those who have been affected by breast cancer today's activity is focused on the signature pink ribbon. It is always great to heighten your student, client or child's social awareness. Some assistance may be needed depending on the individual's fine motor skills.
Materials: Construction paper (pink and white), scissors, liquid glue and a pen.
1. Cut the pink construction paper into 1 inch strips.
2. Take one strip and write a word of your choice. For this project the words "love", "care" and "hope" were chosen. Use a pen or a writing utensil that will not bleed through the construction paper.
3. Flip the strip around that the letters within the word are presented upside down.
4. Put a dot of liquid glue on the opposite in of the strip, approximately 2 inches in from the end of the strip.
5. Arch the strip of construction paper in the center and cross the tail ends together, pressing down where the ends meet to make a ribbon. Repeat this step until you have made a ribbon for each word.
6. Add glue to the back of each newly made ribbon and attach it to the white construction paper.
7. Add a border to complete the art project. Use a 1/4" strip of pink construction paper at the top and bottom of the paper.
